Why Taiwan
Taiwan, also known as “Ilha formosa = Beautiful Island”, is a highly technologically advanced island nation with countless beautiful natural landscapes to discover. With its close proximity to most major cities in East Asia, it is ideal for a weekend trip to nearby Hong Kong or Shanghai.
The local night markets with its abundance of street food stalls will give you a glimpse into the variety of Taiwanese cuisine. This island nation is not just the birthplace of the world famous bubble tea drink, yet reflects a rich culture that results from an influence of traditional Chinese, aboriginal and Japanese culture.
Taiwan’s electronics industry developed from virtually non-existent in the 1960s to one of the world’s leading manufacturers of information and communication technology products in a few decades.
Due to its strong focus on scientific research and development combined with international trade outlook, this island nation earned the title of becoming one of the “Four Asian Tiger” economies in the 1990s.
