dear parents,

First of all, we would like to thank you for considering Meiji Internships’ services.

Ever since we have founded Meiji Internships, we have noticed the crucial role parents play in our students’ journeys. More often than not, students’ parents are by their side to encourage and inspire the planning process. Here, we would like to give you a better understanding of our services and how your child’s professional development can benefit tremendously from an international internship in Asia.

For quite some time, we have been observing an ongoing shift of economic and educational power towards the East. Therefore, we saw the need to encourage young people to take the brave initiative to step into a world full of opportunities here in Asia. So far, Meiji Internships has placed 1200+ students in international companies throughout Asia paving their way towards a professional global career. Our passion is driven by the success and gratitude of our students.

Our Achievements

Meiji Internships is the first independent academic institution in Japan that focuses on creating individually-customized internships for international students. We placed over 1200 applicants through our extensive corporate network of more than 750 multinational corporations, startups, and NGOs. Since 2014, 92 % of our internship graduates have found jobs in a variety of industry fields. Furthermore, we hold partnerships with worldwide renowned universities and continue to keep in touch with our former students via Meiji Internship’s Global Alumni Network.

Upon completing Meiji’s program you will find that your son or daughter has acquired the following gains:

  • Intercultural Awareness
  • Increased Self-confidence
  • A better idea of their future career path
  • Career-shaping vocational and soft skills

  • Crucial foreign languages skills

Last but not least: We all worry

What do we as parents want most for our children? That they stay safe and keep in touch. There is no magic potion that will stop you from worrying about your offspring, but here are a few things that might help:

Trust them!

  • Your children probably know more than you think they do and have researched their host country in advance. Even if they haven’t, we will lend them a helping hand in learning how to avoid potentially risky situations.

Trust their network!

  • There are a huge number of youngsters who go abroad every year. They become part of a network that passes on information and advice on things like how to get around, where is safe and what to eat. This will be of immense help and help boost your child’s confidence while in a safe environment.

Encourage them!

  • Even if your child acts like they don’t need your help or advice, anything you say to encourage – or discourage – them will have an effect, however small. Make sure that they know that they shouldn’t hesitate to contact you or us if they have any (even minor) problems. No matter how self-sufficient they might seem, your child needs to know you believe in them. This will encourage and comfort them on their journey.

Help them prepare!

  • Make sure that they have a basic knowledge of health, food hygiene and are ready to live on their own.

Communication is key!

  • Come to an agreement about how often your child will contact you and what time and method (daily updates on Whatsapp, Skype calls, emails) work best for you. This will prevent you from waiting endlessly by the phone for news.
  • Reassure them that although they might face difficulties, the good times will far outweigh them and even if today may not be great, tomorrow always promises something better. Even if they might not always say it, your children will be grateful for your trust and support.

Step back and let the magic happen!

  • Yes, it is hard to watch your child struggle, but allowing them to solve problems is all part of the experience. Let them get into their own trouble. Gaining confidence that they can survive travel misfortunes is part of the beauty of living abroad.

Witness the evolution!

  • We love hearing from parents about the changes they have witnessed in their own children over the course of their internship. Here are some highlights from recent parents of Meiji interns:

“When she left home she was so shy and didn’t know what do you with her life after High School. Now, she is a strong determined woman with a clear vision of what she wants her future to be“

“He is more responsible and manages travel, money and logistics on his own. I am proud to see how mature he has become“

“She learnt English in School and French is her mother tongue. Now, after interning in South Korea, she also knows Korean, which I find incredibly impressive.“

“My daughter has found her passion for teaching, traveling and has met people of all walks of life. I am glad she had the chance to do an internship abroad and grow into the cool person she is today!”

“You will never regret giving your child this opportunity.“
