Take the first step towards your international career by filling out our application form online. We will then schedule a non-binding video call between you and one of our internship consultants. Within 72 hours, we will let you know whether you meet the criteria to be accepted into our program. After receiving your deposit, you will become a fully-fledged member. We will individually customize your internship package and forward your application to our extensive professional network of 750 host companies – from game-changing influential NGOs and innovative start-ups to multinationals. As soon as we receive a positive response from a host company, we will arrange an interview for you. Once the host company has officially confirmed your internship, you will be invoiced for the final payment to officially confirm your internship placement. Moreover, for on-site Internships, we will then arrange accommodation and airport pickup. 

Then it will be time to start your journey!

Our goal at Meiji is to create career-shaping internship placements that will provide our interns with hands-on work experience, transferable skills and real responsibility. We don’t want to forgo potentially high-quality placement by limiting our search to paid placements only. Also, we adhere to visa regulations for each of our programm destinations. Therefore, the internship opportunities that we create are generally unpaid. Yet, your host company might be able to provide you with additional services free of charge, such as transportation costs, free meals, etc. But that will all be agreed upon between you and your host company.

Participating in a Virtual Internship allows you to become part of an international team in Asia while maintaining a great deal of flexibility in deciding when and where you would like to work. That way you can even continue your academic studies while making a global impact in your industry of choice. 

As part of your Virtual Internship, you will receive a personalized Internship performance report allowing you to reflect on the work you’ve done and the skills you’ve gained. But not only that: You will also receive valuable feedback in individual 1-on-1 coaching sessions. Upon graduation, your internship certificate will become a key asset to help your CV stand out.

You are unsure about the duration of your program? The price for our Virtual Internship program remains the same regardless of how long you want it to last. By the time you leave your internship, you will not only possess career-shaping industry skills, but also be equipped with digital expertise – the know-how that recruiters of today seek in their candidates!

Yes! We had several cases in the past where host companies hired interns as full-time staff after they finished their Internship or returned to Asia. Yet, we can’t guarantee this to be the case for everyone as it highly depends on the host company and each intern’s individual performance. But we know for sure that an internship with us will be a major step into the job market and will help your future job applications immensely. Our interns would agree: 92% of our Meiji alumni found full-time jobs upon graduation.

Unfortunately, we cannot provide you with a list of our partner companies. On the one hand, we have to protect their privacy, on the other hand, we don’t want to create any false hopes. While we do our best to find the perfect Internship for you, the final decision regarding your application rests with the host companies. 

But have in mind Meiji Interns have been paired with over 100 companies in Fukuoka, where we are headquartered, and 400+ companies all over Asia! Therefore, we adhere to our promise of securing an Internship that meets (and hopefully exceeds) your expectations!

Yes, it is definitely possible. In fact many Meiji Interns have received credits for our programs before. We recommend you check directly with your advisor, as this may depend on your university and major.

Once a company is interested in you, we will organize an online job interview for you.

To prevent this from happening, we will make sure to properly consult you via Skype to find out more about you and your interests. We are eager to find you the most suitable Internship and would suggest you give us an exact idea of what you want to learn and do during your Internship. Nevertheless, due to limitations based on the applicant’s language and professional skills as well as unforeseeable circumstances that are beyond our control, Internship placements can change or be postponed. However, we won’t let you down and make sure to secure you a great Internship in Asia that will be beneficial for your future career! 

Although we cannot guarantee this scenario as it depends on the host company and yourself, we know for sure that an Internship will be your first footstep into the job market and can help immensely when applying for a job in Asian (or anywhere!) in the future.

Language requirements vary greatly between countries, industries, and companies. Usually, the main working language is English, therefore, fluency in English is essential. 

However, having some knowledge of the local language will certainly come in handy from time to time, not only when communicating with colleagues, but also in daily life situations.

Yes! We will help you find an amazing Internship even if you don’t have much experience yet. In these cases, your field of studies and the industry you’re interested in will play an important role in the process, but you can be confident that we will do our best to find the perfect company for you!

There is no need to be enrolled in college or university to join our program. The only requirement is that you are between 16 and 30 years old and are eager to acquire meaningful work experience, as well as to develop your professional skill set!

The usual documents you need to provide are:
・ Application Form
・ Resume and Cover Letter
・ Photocopy of your passport
・ Business Photo for your application
※ Please note that for some industry fields, you might have to provide additional documents, e.g. recommendation letter, language certificates, portfolio (only for marketing/design placements)

Normally, the application deadline is 3 months before the start date of your Internship. However, we also offer Meiji Express, which shortens the deadline to 8 weeks before the start of your Internship. Ideal for those who would like to swing into action as soon as possible!

Meiji Express is an additional service that allows you to start your Internship early, you can select it directly on the application form. 

If you would like your Internship to begin in less than the usual three months (but not less than eight weeks), you will need to pay an additional $350 for Meiji Express.

You should book your flight after your Internship has been officially confirmed. This way there won’t be any misconceptions regarding the location or start date of your Internship.

For the Standard Package, you will stay in a shared accommodation where you will have your own room, but will have to share the kitchen, laundry facilities, and other common areas with your housemates. If you like making new friends and socializing, this is the option for you! 

For the Business Package, you will stay in a private apartment. This option better suits those who enjoy having alone time and total privacy.

The Placement Package doesn’t include accommodation, so you will need to find accommodation by yourself.

This will depend on the city you will do your Internship in (and how much you enjoy shopping). Please use this website to get an idea of the living costs 

Depending on your citizenship, visa requirements can vary greatly. Please refer to our destination page or contact us directly. We are here to help!

Our staff at Meiji Internships will explain to you what type of visa you will need depending on your destination and answer any queries you may have. However, you should contact the embassy or consulate of the country you will be visiting in order to know the specific details. Remember, obtaining a valid visa in advance (visa exemption, tourist visa or working holiday visa) is a crucial step to doing your Internship.

You can make your payments to us by Flywire or via international bank transfer. The payment needs to be settled before you come to Asia and start your Internship.

While we don’t offer any funding/scholarships ourselves currently, we are more than happy to help you apply for one! 

Please find a scholarship you want to apply for and, once you know what is needed, send us the documents so that we can help you with the application.

In case we are unable to place you in an Internship role before the placement deadline as stated in your Acceptance Letter, you would receive a full refund of your deposit.

You are not paying for doing an Internship. 

You are paying us as your exclusive agent who organizes all additional services; consults you, prepares you for the company interview, fully customizes your dream Internship, arranges accommodations and social activities/parties and more.
